Can't decide on new rifle

I'm looking to add a new gun to the safe and Can't decide on make and caliber.looking at left hand 223,243,308 looking to spend $550.I don't reload so ammo price is a consideration.I'm leaning toward a remington 700 SPS SYN VAR 308 LH 26 is this a good rifle ,price is $548.I already have a ar-15,25-06 ruger,270win tikka,7mm mag browning blr,savage 300ultra mag.just wanting a new toy with no particular niche that needs filled

So what would recommend and why

looks like you have the high power field covered,how about a savage smokeless muzzle loader,$505 for the blued at wally world,got a great trigger even if you only shoot pyrodex or black powder out of it.im thinking thats what im going to get,i havent bought a new gun in 3 years & been getting the itch :D ,mike243

I have a TC Omega .50cal stainless/camo for that job.

Ditto. You can't beat that price. The 300 WSM or the 30-06 would be a good choice.

Just yesterday I made the mistake of staying too long at the local gun store. Similar to what you're looking at I came home with a Remington SPS Tactical in 223 Remington. It's basically the same rifle you're looking at but with a 20 inch barrel. I brought it home and spent some time getting it set up and will try the range next week. If it doesn't do right I'll tinker some more and if it does good I'm likely to tinker some more with it anyway. Oh, well. I've never loaded for 223 so I'll have to get out and find some dies and a shellholder next week. According to what I've read some shoot very well and others don't. We'll see what it does.

I'd say buy what you want because it doesn't look to me like your lackin anything as far as deer huntin goes... :)
cept maybe a good slug gun or muzzy....

I have a muzzy and 2 slug guns.Ordered the 308 sps varmint

Your original choice of the 700 SPS LH VAR is a good start. Beware though if you buy that rifle and get some good glass and excellent mount you very well may sell your other rifles to buy .308 Federal Gold Medal Match! Yes sir, it is that good ;)
I don't think you'll like a convential AR in any caliber. The direct gas impingement system that cylces the weapon throws hat gaseous vapors right into your firing eye!!!

This auction is for a Savage model 99 made in 1924. The 20" barrel is chambered in 300 Savage and has an excellent bore. The metal has been re-finished and now is a high luster bluing. The forearm has a few old cracks in it. And the butt stock the same with a pin at the wrist. The wood is solid with the repairs. Drilled and tapped and has a set of Weaver scope bases on it. The LOP is 13 1/2" over a added pad. Just an old Savage that has been used and would still make a good shooter for somebody.
