ok guys, I like to trout fish but over here in the west part there isn't much other than going to arkansas, which i like but want something different. the caney i know runs along I-40 and i know there's some access point at the rest area. is this a decent place to fish or are there better places. I fished one time a long time ago below the dam. It was ok but looking for other places.

went today with a friend and we caught fish all day...most smaller fish but it was constant all day...most fish were 7-11 inches, had a few 12-14 and the biggest was a 17 inch fat rainbow trout that I caught

Caught a Sauger yesterday evening from the bank around Bettys island. 1st time I have pulled one from that river, kinda neat.

Try wading about 200 yards downstream from the dam. Several trails running along the bank should allow you easy access and with it being during the week you should have plenty of room.

Just saw fishing from a boat. No specifics for that. Just float until you find some deep pools and setup once you find a good one.

Went two Sundays ago. They had just finished generating.

Caught 17 ranging from 10 to 16 inches in two hours at Happy Hollow.

First time I had been wadding in years.

Caught a 21 inch Brown at 1:45 pm two weekends ago, 2 hours before the generation bubble hit. You can catch them anywhere along the river from the dam to the Cumberland, at any time, if you put in your time on the water.

Best advice I can give you for lures is roostertails. There's nothing that swims in that river that wont bite one. White and chartreuse colors work best. Small baits, 1/16 ounce and use light line or you won't be able to cast them. Trout Magnets are fantastic too if you can figure out how to use them. They take some practice. I haven't mastered it yet.
