Yes, mostly stockers. Right now, mostly 10-12-inch brown trout with an occasional rainbow of brookie thrown in. He should be able to catch about all he wants.

This is your average stocker trout on the Caney.

And, as info for others that might see this thread, is that the stocker browns are off limits for harvest. The Caney has special size limits of:

Rainbow: Protected length Range (PLR) of 14"-20" with one fish over 20"

Brook: same as rainbow

Brown: maximum of 1 fish per day with a 24" minimum length limit.

All Ive been catching is stocker browns, mostly on roostertails/spinners. The vast majority of powerbait slingers Ive been seeing are just keeping the small browns too so Im just not sure how well the regs are followed. Im wanting to go down it on a boat, just have nowhere to store mine while in Cookeville. If you can catch fish like Ive been and seeing others do from the bank, I can just imagine how great a float trip would be.
 
Went this morning FH- Hit it just after they shut the gens off. Very slow, caught five and missed a couple more. Need to go before the gens.

I'm guessing most of those folks can't tell the difference between a brown and a brook trout.
 
stone22- Last week, on a float between Bettys and the Gordonsville takeout, we caught 60 trout. Mostly stockers with a few bows and brooks thrown in. No size.
