any rainbow trout in it...Geez, all I was trying to do was catch a few stockers for a meal. I caught 2 crappie, 2 rockfish, too many to count stripe, skipjack and bluegill. I fished for 6 hours today. Oh well....anybody catch any today?

I fished around Betty's Island today and had as bad of a day fishing as I've had in 25 years of fishing. Here's why: No bites - No fish. Not even a nibble. I threw jerk baits, rooster tails, panther martins, and road runners. Nothing. I even tied on some corn -- still nothing.

There had to be 25 people in waders at the island and another 10 boats just waiting do load and unload at the ramp. That's the reason I hate fishing on the weekend.

I was there on a week night (4:30 till dark) and caught a total of 24" of rainbow. Unfortunately, that was divided by 3 fish.

I think it will take awhile to recover from the 2 months of high water.

Sounds like a great fishing trip to me.lol All of the fish that you mentioned fight better and eat better(IMO)than trout, with the obvious exception of skipjacks. I think that any trip on which you catch a bunch of fish, regardless of what they are, is a good trip.

I was fishig at the dam. I was having a real taste for some trout. I ended up stopping at Kroger and buying a fresh swordfish steak. It grilled up nice.
