Food Plots Can you have too much rain?

On fresh seed? I planted yesterday and all this rain got me wondering if you can get too much? I did spray, throw and mow

2019 I did spray, throw, and mow and starting about an hour after I was finished, got 4 inches of rain. My food plots turned out nice that year.

If it's a hillside and your seed washes away.

Rain that puts your seed in the ground is good. Rain that washes your seed and soil is bad lol. I think I just got the latter, but I don't have anything planted lol. The other issue is it all coming up nice and neat and the September drought hitting it.

It won't hurt the seed. It only hurts you when the seed is washed off the plot

On tilled ground, yes. On no till or throw and mow, gonna need enough to float the ark to booger it up

Agree...with dry powdery disked ground yes......Less likely with spray, throw and mow....good rain over several days is actually perfect to push the seed to the soil and to mat the dead thatch down.

Prepare to replant. I hope all goes fine but lots of rain on fresh planting isn't good. I've had milo do fine but I always stopped my soybean planter 24 hours in front of rain and 48 hours for cotton. A good fungicide will help but wash your hands good after using. Fungicides ain't healthy at lunch

It all depends on the rate of rainfall. A gully-washer on freshly turned ground is not good. Topsoil erosion and seed washed away. A long steady rain like most have received or are receiving from Ida, and the rain soaks into freshly-tilled ground, which is incredible helpful.

Checked my plots yesterday and have sprouts throughout so doesn't seem like I had any issues with them washing down the hill, thanks for all who replied

Good deal.... I'm going to check on a few plots today myself....the timing of the rain has been good since we sowed seed.

I haven't personally been to mine, but got a call from the dozer guy asking if I planted anything in a new plot he made. I told him I had and he couldn't believe there was already 3" growth of cereal rye and crimson clover.
