Maybe a bow shot deer, but I wouldn't think a rifle shot deer would stop.

This has nothing to do with this topic.
But back when i bow hunted one afternoon i shot a nice 8pt eating acorns i seen the arrow go through him and stick in the ground the buck jumped and looked around and then went back to eating acorns again for at least 5 minutes and then he walked off.Made me second guess myself about the shot he walked in the woods and laid down and died.

Lots of time gunfire doesn't bother them or other words they don't know they're being shot at and sometimes they don't know they are shot. So I would say yes it's possible.

Ive had bucks never leave a does tail shot both with a bow and even a couple with gun, loaded up with Testosterone! That said a shot deer that realizes somethings bad wrong, I dont think will stop for anything once the panic button is pushed.

I had a hangfire on a nice 10 pt back in 2014 that was tending a doe. They parted about 40 or so yards, then he started easing back to her, allowing me to reload, and make the 2nd shot count.

One of my best friends killed a good 8 pointer at my farm this year second weekend of muzzleloader when the rut was at its peak chasing here in East tn this year... he shot him while it was chasing some does around and hit him. The deer ran in a cedar thicket and the does ran off. He never came out of cedar thicket so he thought he had missed or he was dead in there. So he grunted a little after reloading and called the buck out of the cedar thicket. Got a second shot on him and he darted into our fence and got tangled up in the barb wire where he was finished off. So yes, wounded deer that have testosterone pumping will definitely still check out a grunt call even after being shot with a gun. I'm sure not all would do this but with this buck, he was still interested and thought another buck was stealing his does from him.

2014 season I killed a 3.5 yo droptine buck with my bow. He came in trailing three does. I shot him at 8 yards with a 3 blade muzzy. The deer never even flinched. I was astounded. I thought there is no way I missed that deer...but his lack of response to the shot convinced me otherwise so I knocked another arrow and took aim...in the excitement of the moment I miss judged the yardage and spine slammed him. Instant paralysis of the back legs. To my disbelief the buck continued to crawl toward the does grunting at them. With the buck now demobilized but still full of vigor I knocked a 3rd arrow and put it in the pump house. When I got down to go have a look at him I couldn't believe my eyes. Not only did I not miss the 1st shot but I 10ringed a double lung hit [emoji33]these creatures are much tougher than we give them credit for.

The official answer is yes,a meeeeehhh will stop a buck that was fatally shot with my 3006 .I never found him when I shot him,not a drop of blood but I found the deer dead today within 15 yards of the trail I looked for him on.
