Hey guys, I have a mid 60s remington 700 that is a blued stainless model. There are some spots on the barrel where the blue shows some wear. I would like to know if there is a method to reblue some small spots. I always heard stainless didnt blue. Thanks for your help!!

"Blackened", yes. (Similar to parkerizing.) Have a look at the gas cylinder on an M1 Garand rifle.

"Blued", no.

My question would be "do you want to?"

I ask because I have a late 70s Roger M77 280. It was my first bolt action centerfire. About About 15 years ago I almost had it refinished and restocked. I have a safe full of rifles to hunt with but this one seems to be the one I pull out most mornings. This season I was sitting in the stand and started looking it over. The wear and tear on it was a book of memories from hundreds of hunts. I am really glad I didn't refinish it.

I 'd leave it. Its not hurting anything and gives it character. But, a good gunsmith an reblue the rifle for you. If you just touch it up it wont match.
