Can catfish jugs be left out overnight?

I looked through the fishing guide, and couldn't find a direct answer to this. It says the jugs must be checked once a day.

Can I set jugs out in the evening, leave them overnight, and check them the next morning? (Old Hickory Lake)

I see this all the time, but just wanted to make sure.

That's what most folks I know do.

From the regulations, it looks like that is OK. The reality is that on a reservoir with moving water like OLD Hickory, it is going to be difficult to keep up with all of your jugs if they are left unattended for that long. Every jug you fail to find and run at least once in that 24 hour period would be a separate violation.
