Can anyone tell me what I'm doing here???

This is an arrow I fletched up with 3 orange vanes and with no vinyl wrap. I am checking for something in my arrow flight (I knew this would most likely be the result when my fixed blade broadheads were hitting the same as my field points at 40 yards). But can anyone tell me what I am checking for???? and how this does that????

I have found that putting some of your wife's lipstick, of course without her knowing it, on the rest and then checking the arrow for lipstick, works better than foot powder on the arrow....that always seems to powder coat the riser and shelf. :)

I wonder who started the foot powder method to check for fletching contact. The stuff goes everywhere when you shoot the arrow anyways.

I dab lipstick on my fletching and or rest to check for fletching contact. The whole foot powder method has never worked for me. I can't tell anything from it.

I've done the lipstick method and it is too messy for me. I have put some fleece on my arrow shelf and rest. The lipstick applied there will NEVER come out. So I use the Foot Powder method. Some of the loose stuff will shoot off upon release but as you can see from the above pic any contact will show. No contact on my vanes. My chin touched the shaft at the back of the shaft. You can see the smudge that I reapplied some powder to. This arrow was shot 4 or 5 times and the only contact was where the rest touched at brace height.
