Camo Patterns

Try taking a picture of camo you like. Turn the picture to a black and white picture. It is very revealing about what a deer sees. You would be surprised at what you think blends in can stick out like a sore thumb. Good luck.

Better yet, take a picture and then use a photo editor to remove (or at least seriously tone down) the reds. THAT is how a deer sees. And you can tun up the shortest wavelengths, such as the blue/violent end of the spectrum.

Was wondering if anyone would mention ASAT....when it first came out I was skeptical...but after seeing it in the woods I was amazed...doesnt wash out and blends in well any time of the year.

I really like it. From ground level looking into the trees, it does a great job of breaking up outline.

On the ground, I've had friends walk over top of me as I sat on the side of a ridge.

Great stuff.

Dark geen or dark grey wool pants and a green/black, red/black wool checked shirt with a medium grey wool vest. Partridge plaid wool hat.

Kill deer, boar, and bear. Movement is what matters most with surrounding cover a close second. Camo clothing is trendy but matters not. No game animal wears camo patterns that match what the corporations peddle.

Back in the day we wore flannels. Then sometime in the early 90's we bought camo at the goodwill or army surplus. We would wear checkered red and black flannel with army camo pants. When cold army camo jacket over the flannel. But all of it was old army camo.we all froze to death back then. Many many miserable days in the field. Thought we were really blending in. Maybe we were never tested it to my surroundings. But deer don't seem to see us much.

Don't know about those mountains, but probably 15 years ago I was checking a camera at a mineral site after getting down from a stand, standing a couple feet from the oak tree the camera was on. I had two mature does walk up behind me within maybe 5ft of me. I was wearing realtree AP. Been a number of times since that I have had deer oblivious with ap while I was on the ground, but that time stands out because they had plenty of time walking up on me to know something was out of place, but they didn't booger out until I turned around.

I was in a ladder stand and a doe walks out probably 200yds from me. She picked me off instantly. I was in Cabelas Outfitter Camo and tucked in 10 yds inside the woods in a cedar tree. I did not move a muscle and she knew I was in my stand and the wind was blowing in my direction.

Mossy Oak is my go to, but anything that break up your pattern works.

My orange vest and hat goes with just about any camo.
Once I figured that out I stopped caring.

Same for archery and turkey hunting. The only exception to turkey hunting is I like to wear my old leafy suit top. Seems to help conceal me and my subtle movements more.

I had a deer in bow range every single hunt this year, and didn't have camo on in any of the hunts. Only time I got busted all season as on bad wind.

Me too- I found a supply of it online a couple years ago, can't remember where.
I ordered 5 shirts and 5 pants, figured it was on its way out.

It's great for deer hunting, but seems like a poor choice for turkeys.

IMHO, if you control your scent and your wind, whatever you like cause the deer don't care...lol...
