I know they will shut down when batts. get low. wondering do some more expensive models deal with cold weather problems better? battery life etc... when temps get very low how does it effect operation? just curious how others r at this?

yes, some of the more expensive cameras have better battery managment, but much of cold weather battery problems can be solved by using high end rechargeables with low discharge rates.

I do not think you will find a commercial cam to come close to a Homebrew with a good set of Externals.
If I get 90 days from a commercial cam I am doing good.
Homebrew ...well all summer and into fall
