Camera Mounts?

I've looked at a lot of mounts. The one I have is supposed to be universal, but it won't fit my bow at all. One of my guys that is a machinist is going to make me one.

The mount used to fit fine on my old bow, but made it heavy to the left. That made the arrows fly left and low unless you held on tight to the grip. Of course that causes problems all its own.

What I'm going to have made is just a 90 degree bracket. Drill a hole in for the stabilizer and then a hole and small little bolt for the camera. I'm just going to use my little Samsung camcorder.

What do your mounts look like?

One of my engineers made me a new mount for my bow. My little Samsung camera fits great on it. The problem is when the bow shoots, it blurs out really badly.

Do the GoPro style cameras blur out like that?

if it blurs, that means the camera is vibrating from the shot... the stiffer the camera mount, the less it should vibrate... the one I made and used made the camera shake pretty good. I've seen one that was solid and did not shake at all. I'm not sure how exactly to make them have smooth video but I do know that if there is some flexibility in the mount that the camera can shake or vibrate similar to those door stops on your base boards... except less pronounced obviously.

I use what's called a cambow, don't think they are in business but they gave a couple back in the day when I did hunting shows and such, it's a spring loaded mount that absorbes the shock from the bow when it releases, not sure how the go pro does with it yet but I might tell ya tomorrow

I may take off my stabilizer/dampener and see if the vibration goes down. I don't have that issue too much on the crossbow.

At one point I had a mount on the end of the thing and it was just horrible. The dampener was doing it job and shaking the camera!

Here is the video with the stablizer still on the bow. I think it will be better if I take it off. I may see if I can turn off the autofocus on the camera too.

I attach mine to the tree with a bracket and a camera arm. It works pretty well as long as the deer is not to my extreme left. (I am right handed and mount the arm on my right side).

yeah extreme left sucks. I have a short 2 segment camera arm, and wish I had a 3 piece to reach around my body for those far left/behind the tree shots.

I took a mono pod camera mount from Wal Mart and cut it off about 8 inches long.
Then I attached a beener clip to it using zip ties.

Then I used hose clamps to attach painted PVC to the climbing seat portion of my seat climber. At both ends of the PVC, I glued on "T's".

I simply use my quick dis connects to slide the mono pod in and out of the PVC T on either side of my stand.

THe camera screen is visible and I can easily move the camera as the deer approaches.

I will say though, that after many years of self videoing, hunting wild public land deer in hardwoods, and getting a kill on camera is ridiculously frustrating. The effort has cost my MANY opportunities.

I now mostly carry the camera for pre and post shot. Because even when the shot does get caught on camera, it is rarely zoomed or centered well.

You just can't beat a camera man.
