Well my wifes grandfather raises cattle here is blount co and has been seeing quit a few coyotes lately. well he asked me if I would come down and try to shoot some this evening. I went yesterday and had one at 125 yards but all I had was paps old 12 ga with buck shot. so me and dad went back today and had two young dogs come out at 1835 at 265 yards. shot the first dog which drew up his front right leg and ran into the woods, the second dog ran up on the top of the hill and turned and looked and I shot it and it spun around and flopped into the woods. waited 15 mins and walked over to pick them up out of the field and another dog came running up and stopped at 40 yards and I shot it in the brisket!!!! feels good putting a small dent in those b@#$@$!!! I have pledged to shoot every coyote I can, whenever I can...even if I am hunting a good buck. try to save all the small game and fawns I can. Last year I shot 4 in mz season within 5 mins with the smoke pole! I hope everyone else will help share the responsibility and KILL ALL THE COYOTES YOU CAN!!!!!!! Good luck fellers!!!!

Isn't it illegal to hunt yotes with a centerfire while archery season is open?

Yes it is.

NO it's not, and I challenge you to find it in the guide.

This is from the WMA section and only applies to WMA for small game:

[color:#FF0000]"Small game hunting with center-fire rifles and shotguns: Rifles and handguns using center-fire ammunition are prohibited for hunting all small game species on wildlife management areas with only a few exceptions: Rifles and handguns using center-fire ammunition are legal for hunting beaver, bobcat, foxes, coyotes, groundhogs, and crows, only during big game seasons and the hunter must be a licensed legal big game hunter. Coyotes may be taken on any hunt but only with the firearm or archery equipment that is legal for that hunt."

The only stipulations for hunting coyotes (furbearers) with centerfire is that:

[color:#FF0000]1. If using this equipment while hunting during deer, elk or bear season you must be a legal big game hunter.
and
5. It is illegal to use centerfire firearms from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise.

On private land: year-round, any equipment.

On WMA land, you can only use what's legal for the open season (no centerfire during archery). But once a big game rifle (or muzzleloader, for that matter) season opens you can use that firearm, but only if you have a license for the big-game season. If you're wanting a break from deer season and you have a WMA big game license (type 094 I believe) you can hunt yotes...

Here's where a .22 magnum or a .17HMR would come in handy... off-season WMA yote hunting.

if you are carrying a rifle during bow season, you ARE NOT a LEGAL big game hunter.

It is illegal to shoot a coyote or anything else with a centerfire weapon during archery or muzzleloader season. And this may be the stupidest law we have in TN.
