Bushmaster Carbon 15

Took this in on a trade today. Pretty sharp rifle but I'm concerned with the trigger action. When you fire, let up on the trigger, you have to squeeze again let off and squeeze again for it to fire. You can hear an audible click like when your doing a function check on the second squeezing of the trigger ???

Seems unsafe to me.

I don't think so but I could be wrong. You have to let off the trigger completely and squeeze it again for it to fire.

Any suggestions on a trigger upgrade and a new scope. Reasonably priced but decent quality.

LOL.. You have to pull the trigger 3 times to fire 2 rounds

Never owned a AR15 but I have fired 10s of thousands of rounds thru a M16. Maybe this is the way it is suppose to operate anit sure?

I like shooting my AR with the sights,,but a 1-4 Leupold would be an ideal scope,,

When I squeeze the trigger I get a shot off, let off, squeeze again and another shot. I'm not sure about a two stage trigger that you have to let back off and re-engage to drop the hammer...?

I have seen this before when someone tries to do their own trigger job. But I don't know if that is your problem.

Just don't let the hammer fall without the upper attached. Catch it with your thumb.

Yeah, something's not right with your fire control. ALG defense makes a good one. It's a rework of a standard fire control and costs around $50.

Just don't let the hammer fall without the upper attached.

He'll be fine doing it a couple of times for the purpose of testing this. It's just not something you should do regularly.

Well if you continue to hold the trigger to the rear after the shot is fired and the bolt cycles you then let off on the trigger and the disconnector will catch the hammer with an audible click-this prevents full auto fire which is 'frowned upon' by the batf etc. Farther let off allows the trigger/sear to engage the hammer in the sear notch. This final step is usually not audible. Then you are ready to shoot again. Your trigger operation sounds a bit strange but triggers are easily replaced or 'messed with' and that may be your problem. Anyway get it checked by someone who knows AR triggers as you don't wont any ADs, doubling, or full auto fire- I reckon!

No.

But I have done it with my Plum Crazy and NFA polymer lowers, as well as with aluminum lowers. Is there some magic in the Carbon15 lower that I am not aware of?

I guess I prefer to live by experience rather than internet lore. Like I said - a couple of times is not going to be an issue when trying to diagnose a problem.

I guess when you crack your lower, you can consider yourself experienced.

Have you personally seen a lower crack from doing this? Have you done it yourself? If not, why are you spreading internet rumor around like it is fact when you don't have any basis for your view?
