Bush hogged junk in plot?

What do you do about all the bush hogged junk (weeds, saplings) lying in the plots you want to plant?

I can probably disc the weeds under but there is a lot of lumber in the plot.

We always used an old harrow and moved it out of the way.

Yeah I should have been more specific. More like a rock rake like LA man said.. Ours is homemade with railroad spikes..

food plots take time if you are putting them where they have never existed. After you have worked them a year or two, you will finally have the look you are after. Hiring someone with a good tiller will make a huge difference.

Try to rake that garbage out as best as you can this year. It will get better each time you work with it. You need to use a turn plow possible to really get yourself some good dirt up on top that you can disk. or, like I said just get a good rototiller and go through it.

It depends on how heavy/thick it is. IF there isn't an overabundance you can bush hog the saplings & throw them out of the plot, then disc and sow. Alot of the smaller stuff will rot in a year or two.

Im not looking to make a putting green type food plot.
This is going to be pasture for cattle but I want some goodies in there too.

Probably seed the whole 9 ac in fescue and mix in a bunch of clover.
Over seed Wheat and oats in the poor rocky areas.
Maybe some rape, oats, clover in a little food plot we can watch and enjoy from the back porch.

Update.

Hooked up the box blade and scraped the crap into piles. Couldn't believe how well it worked.

Might just overseed and drag some chain link fence over the ground.

This drag harrow from tractor supply is perfect for cleaning the crap out of the fields after busy hogging and will roll the weeds up in blankets that can be easily picked up and discarded from the field. Great for seeding also as it will not cover the seed too deep. it is an all around excellent tool for the foodplotter and i will never be without one again .....Lord willing.

I tried to spray in early August, bush hog a couple of weeks later, and then burn a couple of weeks after that. I also lower the tines on my box blade and pull the garbage off with that as well. It also cuts up your soil a little.
