Yesterday all I could think was I needed to be in a stand! The temp drop, overcast, and some on/off rain right after some blazing 90+ degree days... We're not the only ones that enjoy the temp change the deer do to and I've had great luck on these type of early season days. I had deer moving from the first 5 min I was in the stand. Seen 2 yearling bucks and 9-10 does then with about 20min of light left I caught movement in the woods. It was 2 bucks coming head on to me an 11pt and a 9pt both of which I know very well. The 11 is 2.5 and the 9 is 3.5. They make it to about 20yds and the 9pt started hitting a scrape and just rubbing down on the licking branch. The 11pt followed up and did the same. My blood was pumping to say the least just getting to watch this. The 9pt starts heading to the plot and I was watching him talking myself down when the thrashing of the tree made be look back expecting to see the 11pt and I did, but there was also another deer there as well. It was a wide 4.5 yr old 8pt I been watching this summer. I couldn't get on him in the woods but thankfully those two bucks followed the 9pt after a couple minutes and went to the greens. He gave me a perfect broadside shot at 44yds and I stuck him perfect! It was just an awesome hunt and a great day in the woods.... I also learned I'm getting to old to dead lift a mature buck into the bed of my truck!!! Lol
