Bullet recommendations? .260 Rem

Let me start by saying, I am not a reloader. My good friend is and I am slowly learning and becoming more interested. He has been loading for my .300 and I have seen first hand the advantages of hand loads. I am also a huge fan of the Tikka rifles, so this week,I bought a T3X Hunter in .260 rem. I was wondering what bullets you guys might suggest. The Tikka has a 1:8" twist so I can lean towards a heavier bullet, and this gun will be used on whitetail/ mule deer. I had read an article last week about a .264 projectile produced by Nosler that had a BC over .700 but I have been all over looking for it and I dont see any offering in that caliber with a BC that high. I have almost decided to go for the Hornady ELD-X 143 grain bullet, but wanted to get as many opinions as I can from experienced loaders before "biting the bullet". Thanks

I've been loading the 143 Eldx for about a year and I've been impressed so far. Very accurate but on a couple of kills I've had a bigger than expected exit. I'll keep using it until I have a good reason not to. Hornady brass, 42.1 grains of H4350.

Try the Accubonds and/or Partitions.

Might also take a look at the Sierra Tipped Gamechanger.

There are a bazillion choices. This is one great reason why you handload. You may want to buy a box each of 120 130 and 140 gr factory and see which one groups tightest in your Tikka. With the Creedmoor explosion you will find plenty of components on the shelf.

It's really hard to beat the Accubond for a hunting bullet

Any spitzer bullet in that caliber will have a high enough BC to perform well on anything under 500 yards, so don't get hung up on that. Many long range bullets aren't very good hunting bullets, and explode without leaving an exit wound. I'm a bonded bullet fan, especially Accubonds. I'm gravitating more towards monolithics for hunting now after my daughter found a pie of lead in her venison, and really like the TTSXs and MRXs, and either of those would be another awesome choice.

130gr accubonds are always a good choice. However, my recommendation would be the 127gr Barnes LRX - excellent terminal performance in this monolithic bullet.

Accubond, the new Tipped Game King, and a eld x are all good choices.
A lot of good reviews about the new TGK and they shoot great.

130gr accubonds are always a good choice. However, my recommendation would be the 127gr Barnes LRX - excellent terminal performance in this monolithic bullet.

I'll be loading the LRX in my 6.5 this winter, but I'm a Barnes guy for most rifle applications.

I have a few Nosler E-tips in various calibers but have yet to use one in the field.

the 142 Nosler LRAB they claimed the high BC on was not true,,I shot some and from my dope at 600 and 1,000 yards the BC should have been .600 at the most,,,it is still a great bullet at that..

I have been shooting 120 bt in my 6.5 CM, and just yesterday I was get 1/2" two shot grps at 300 yds.

I have both a 6.5 CM and a 260 REM. For deer I''ve tried several bullets in my handloads, and I was able to get MOA or better groups with just about every bullet I've tried, from 85 gr to 140 gr. The most impressive terminal results I've seen personally were with 140 gr Hornady Interlocks and 140 gr Speer Hot Cor. I'll use up the Interlocks I still have, then make the Hot Cors my choice as long as they are available.

When I want to load up some lower-recoiling rounds for my grandkids to use, I have some 120 gr Pro Hunters and a full box of old Hornady 100 gr soft points.
