i use hornady balistic tip. 45 cal 200 grain. 20 bullits cost me 14-16 bucks. i also have a 50 cal and use the same type bullits for the same price
 
The reason I'm asking is because my wife is in Ohio this weekend and a sporting goods store down the street from them usually has really good prices on everything. I want to experiment with different bullets and if the prices are right I was thinking I would have her pick up a couple of different ones.
 
I have a bunch of muzzle loader bullets for sale in the classifieds. It would save you some money and give you alot of different bullets to try out.

I experimented with several different brands and the worst patterning were BPI's Power Belts. The best and what I shoot is Hornady 200 gr SST which are 20/$12. I get sometimes them under T/C's name Shockwave but they are 15/$12. They are unbelievable once they get to a deer.

The wife just called and said she has been to 3 different stores and the only thing anybody has up there is the hornady 300gr sst. She paid $14 for a box of 10 :o I will take a look at your post kimberman and see if those were what I wanted to try out.

Model 70- how do these load in a barrel that's been fired already? My experience with the Barnes is they are extremely hard to load after the forst shot. I'd go back to the Barnes if I could find one that loaded reasonably easy.
 
Get some Harvester or MMP sabots. I seen this week that Barnes was producing their TMZ's with a EZ load sabot. From Barnes website: Barnes� NEW Spit-Fire T-EZ muzzleloader bullets load easier, even in tight bores. A new sabot reduces the ramrod pressure required to load and seat these .50-caliber, flat-base bullets.

Wished I had seen this last week.
