Build your own muzzleloader kit

Does anyone have any experience with these? Thinking about building a Pennsylvania or Kentucky Rifle. I've looked at the Traditions Kentucky Rifle kit, & there are alot of mixed reviews online. Any thoughts appreciated.

Exactly what fulldrawxx75 said. Depends on what you put into it is what you will get out of it. I have one traditions inline and two pistols. Have had absolutely no problems with them. I will suggest that you look around at different manufactures and suppliers.

That kind of kit is basically slap together and put on a finish. They are all imported. I don't reckon there's anything wrong with that but I'd be patient, save my money and go with a real kit using all American made quality parts. The TVM kits are a good value while the one's from Chambers are absolutely the best but pricey. On the technical side the gun building videos from American Pioneer and the book "Recreating the American Long Rifle" are great reference guides. Below are a few more listings.

can't add much to above. my first mz was a cva hawken and i've built three pistol kits. all of those were just put together. the main details were the final fitting and sanding and stain.

My first was a TC Hawken built from a kit. From finishing the stock to cold blueing the barrel and polishing up the brass. I spent many hours working on it over one summer. Main thing is to take your time and don't rush getting it right. It was so long ago I forgot what I did with it. I do remember killing a few deer with it with the old maxi ball's and real black powder.
