Now that the .300 is gone I'm wanting to build a .223,which was the whole reason for selling it. I want it in a bolt rifle. Started looking on the internet and other places for an action to use like maybe a mini Mauser or something but dang theres nothing out there affordable with the smaller bolt face. So maybe I should just buy a rifle or go with building a 22-250.

$300 to $400 for the action,I found a Remington action on Auction Arms but really don't want to go with a Remy.

Found this one,thinking pretty hard about it but then theres the barrel already on it and the old style Ruger trigger that will need replaceing.

Have you thought about one of the stainless Savage target actions. They should be in the price range you're talking about and would be hard pressed to beat. Lots of folks use them for varmint and bench rifles.

Most rifles in the pawn shops in my area are around $400. After you strip the action of trigger group, barrel, and stock(to be sold on various guns forums)you'll end up paying for truing of the action and a bit towards rebarrel.

Look at the CZ. Tiny little Mauser CRF action, fully adjustable trigger, and they are awesome shooters!

That is true. The CZ's are super accurate, look good, and balanced very well.

I picked up a Colt Coltsman .243 a couple weeks back for 400$. For those not familiar with it, its a Colt that was built by Sako in the late 50s to early 60s. It has the L579 action on it just like the Sako Vixen or Sako Forrester. I shot it in the gusting wind and freezing cold on Sunday and still managed to keep 4 different factory loads at or real close to MOA with the gun. The old Sako actions are sweet, hope you can find one for cheap. I swore that if the .243 barrel on the Colt didnt shoot i was going to rebarrel it to .260...but it doesnt look like I need to bother.

You don't NEED a CRF 22, but if you ever played around with a CZ, you would fall in love.

The shorter the OAL in a round, the less smoother the cycling in a bolt action with CRF's. At least that is my take on them.... ;) .

Maybe true, my model 70 Classic cycles 270 WSM flawlessly.
