A friend of mine just won $150,000 plus an entry into the Bassmaster Classic on Guntersville in February by winning the BASS Weekend Series Championhsip on Old Hickory this past weekend.

I talked to him on Sunday night, and he was still in awe. I said, "Man, you just won $150k but you are going to the BASSMASTER CLASSIC!!!!!"

This is the second major win for him as he won the BFL All American a few years ago and won $120k. He is one heck of a fisherman.

Awesome, he beat some good fisherman!! I too had a buddy fishing it but he gagged and finished like 32nd. Tell him congrats!
 
That is great!! It's amazing to see those guys in action like that. They are on a whole different level of playing for sure. There is a guy I work with that hasn't won anything big, but has placed decent in the minors and such...but he will be in the money just about every time in the local tourneys and such. Some people could catch a limit out of a mudhole in the parking lot. I couldn't do it, even if they drained the lake. Hahah.
 
They are on a different level. He fished a year as a "Pro" on the FLW tour but has done all of this from the "amateur" level. You have to work your way up through the qualifying tournaments that are weekend events and then the winner gets a spot in the classic.

I put pro in parenthesis above because that is relative. A big part of the pros are the real deal but alot of them are only there because they have the money to pay the entry fees. There are alot of darn good fisherman setting on the sidelines than can compete with the pros but can't due to not being able to fund it financially. My buddy tried it one year but didn't do much good because the financial burden got him mentally. I am not saying that he is as good as KVD and some of those guys, but he can hold his own and has the resume to back it up.
