Buckmaster vs prostaff

I have 2 nikon buckmaster 3x9x40's on rifles and I like them a lot. I am thinking about on new project rifle going up to a 4.5x14x40 and the price difference is pretty significant from buckmaster to pro staff. Is there a major difference between the 2? Or enough difference to justify roughly $150 price jump?

If you get lucky you can find the buckmasters for about 225$. I got mine around this time last year from cabelas and it shipped either free or for $5. As far as difference. I think the buckmasters is supposed to be a better scope. I've owned both with no complaints but not so sure I'd buy another unless it was for a dedicated hunted rifle and not a casual paper puncher

The new style prostaff 5 is pretty much on par if not a little better than the Buckmasters. Even the Prostaff 3 seems to be a step ahead of the older Prostaffs.

I have older Buckmasters and Prostaff scopes, so I don't know if this will help, but I actually like the Prostaffs better for clarity, FOV, and consistent eye relief

I think the difference is supposed to be in the glass quality,I have both and cannot tell any difference myself. Both have the lifetime warranty.

Funny you ask because i'm in the same boat myself on deciding. I had an older Monarch on my Encore and i never really cared for it. Last year found a decent deal on a camo buckmaster so put it on my Encore. I like it a whole lot better than the Monarch. May have something to do with the buckmaster being newer, idk but i would buy a buckmaster over a monarch right now. I put the monarch on my 7mm08 and it will make do because that's not my main rifle. Just bought a Browning BAR that has a simmons on it now so will probably either buy a prostaff or buckmaster for it.

An old Monarch UCC isn't comparable to a newer Monarch or Monarch 3. Take a look through a newer Monarch and you'll see it pretty quick.

The Buckmasters are hard to beat for the money. I like my Monarchs but the Buckmasters are the better value.

I have a Buckmaster on my Model 70, and it's a fine, fine piece of glass for the money.
