They are all individuals IMO. Some are homebodies with tiny core ranges, but others wander all over the place. What usually doesn't change between mature bucks is the fact that something makes a switch flip in them making them nocturnal during most of hunting season compared to when they were younger.

That was really interesting. If you follow along with his daily movements, you can pretty much predict one of the 3 places he'll bed before the rut kicks in. Either one of 2 benches on a south facing ridge, or right on a ridge between 2 roads. Once the rut kicks in, all bets are off.

Thats what I was thinking as well. Bedding on the ridges he can see and smell a great distance.
 
Would like to know more about how he was taken. Looks like he strayed almost out of his core area on the Southern edge. Wonder if he was still cruising on secondary rut.

Great study and great video. If this doesnt show you why most mature bucks are saw/killed during the rut nothing will explain it. You can even see the days when he was likely locked down with does, great study and video.
