I was curious of what a healthy Buck to doe ratio is? I have 50 acres bordering close to 6000 acres. Now out of the 6000 acres, only 1000 acres is hunted.
We have alot of does and alot of big bucks, this year we are trying to maintain a min of 115", so alot of the bucks will get a free pass. My thought is with letting so many bucks walk this year I do not want alot of does killed off and mess up breeding for future deer.

So how do I manage the population

In most situations, you won't have to worry about messing up the sex ratio in a single year. Only highly disparate harvest guidelines over several years cause those types of problems.

In fact, with 5,000 unhunted acres in the neighborhood, you couldn't possibly kill too many deer of either sex. They will rapidly discover the sanctuary of that massive acreage and limit their daylight activity to that area.
