Buck Progression

Pulled the cameras over the weekend and got this great buck on camera showing his antler progression from May thru July. Pretty cool stuff!

Should be able too. Reset all the cameras and he is one of three good bucks that I got a lot of photos of the last 3 months. Some pics I have them running all together.

Be even cooler if you can get lots more his pics over time,
capture his antler-growing pics next summer,
and later "harvest" him, having "tracked" him for multiple years.

I will have to look through last years pics. Unfortunately he doesn't have anything real distinctive that makes him stand out.

Although he currently does appear to have that most common mainframe 8 configuration,
if you have several pics from several angles,
you should be able to identify him among last year's pics.
Look for subtle differences between each buck's antlers (they tend to remain relatively the same year-to-year for each buck)
such as angles of tines to main beam, brow tines relative lengths & angles, subtle "bumps" that subsequently become non-typical points, etc., etc.

For example, looking among last year's pics,
I'd initially be looking for a mainframe 8 with relatively long brow tines curving slightly inward towards each other.

This buck appears to be at least 3 1/2 now (likely 4 1/2), so he should have had basically the same configuration last year, mainly with less mass. Should he live another year, he might possibly go from a mainframe 8 to mainframe 9 or 10, and possibly gain some small non-typical points, but his main configuration should still be very recognizable. (Am assuming he will finish up as a mainframe 8 this year.)

Also, believe he's going to be around 18" wide (outside spread), so last year, he was likely over 15" (even if only 2 1/2), and likely about as wide last year as this (if he was 3 1/2 last year). Main noticeable change is typically more beam/tine circumference (mass), although you may gain considerable beam & tine length as well.

Good luck on getting lots more pics, and would really like to see some dated late October, from last year and this year :)

Very cool! Is the temperature accurate in your cam? That appears to be pretty consistent with the buck pictures you have shown.

Yes it is, I noticed that too! Was looking at the times I have him on camera in other pics and he's traveling all day long depending on the day. Hope he keeps that up come bow season! :-)

That's only about 40 days from the May pict til the last pict in July . It is amazing how fast those antlers can grow..Great Picts brother thanks for sharing ..
