Buck in velvet 10-23-23 still

This is a first for me, I've never had a velvet buck this late in the year. I'm assuming his berries got caught in a fence this summer. It's not an antlered doe, I've gotten several pics from behind and it looks like a twig is in there. I'm hoping he survives for several years so we can follow his growth.

Will he continue to grow at a slower than normal rate with the velvet on until he passes?

Don't pay attention to the date on that camera, it's busted and shows that date and time for every photo.

I have a cow horn spike that is in permanent velvet too

Everything comes down to how much testosterone his body can produce. Very little, and he's a cactus rack (keeps the same antlers for life and they stay in velvet). A little bit more testosterone and he could grow antlers that stay in velvet, but do fall off in winter.
