Anyone let there nerves get to them ? Grandpa called it buck fever-lol . I still get a little shakey sometimes. Almost 40 you would think I'd be over it by now
 
I don't get buck fever. I really enjoy hunting, and killing deer, and the anticipation, of when, or what I might see. But I don't get nervous, or start shaking when I see a deer, or get ready to kill one. Guess I might be different in that aspect. I don't plan to quit deer hunting. My son is the same way. 11 yrs old, loves to hunt, and kill deer. When I watch him as he is watching a deer, and shooting one, he isn't nervous, or shaking.
 
I have always gotten torn up, but the older I get, the more I am able to control myself. Every situation is different. If I see them at a distance coming in, it's a piece of cake. If they surprise me up close, sometimes I'm fine, but sometimes I almost fall out of the stand :D
 
I shake like a dog crappin a peach seed, but only AFTER the shot.
Strange.

It is funny when it will strike. I have dropped some big deer and never felt the first shake. I have nearly shook myself out of the tree on a doe. I would hate to lose that feeling occasionally.

That is pure adrenalin when it happens.
 
I take a low dose beta blocker to keep the blood pressure in check. Even though I've lost 30 lbs and probably don't need it, the beta blocker keeps the adrenaline surges in check. I remember this past turkey season a big change in how my body reacts when taking the beta blocker. Its not as intense but still fun.
 
I can usually keep it together until after the shot, I think I usually just have to much goin through my mind to get nervous. Sometimes I do get the shakes before tho, it's usually when they're really close and being really cautious or if they're nervous... But I always shake uncontrollably after the shot...
 
I get excited when I see deer, a little more excited when I see a good buck even. Not to the point of buck fever tho. A little excitement, a little tenseness I suppose, but not the shaking uncontrollably, unable to make a good shot kind of excited. :grin:
 
Sometimes I control it better than others, but it doesn't matter if it is a buck or a doe, I get nervous. Sometimes it is HEAVY shakes, but that usually comes after the shot or near shot.
 
I get excited seeing any deer, even more so in bow range. I have yet to kill a "big" buck but my last one had me shaking pretty good as it was close to dark and my last WI hunt.
 
i dont get shakey but i get a huge adrenaline rush when almost any deer comes in on me. Its kinda euphoric I guess. After the deer is gone or i have it on the ground, I usually feel like ive ran a mile or two.Its pretty awesome and thats what keeps me going back! I agree, that if i ever loose that feeling, Ill prolly just stay home.

I ususally get the "Buck Akers" when I see almost any deer. I can ususally calm down pretty quick to make a good shot. I can get in trouble when they get on me too quick. I might rush the shot if ain't careful. I few of those, I have clean missed on the first shot and then killed them on the second shot. My follow up is lightening quick. The sound of the first shot covers the sound of my bolt action shucking another round in. I guess its the adrenaline which is jacked after the first miss. :)
 
I am getting butterflies just thinking about the shot. I am so friggin ready to be in the tree. I get nervous before every shot but it is getting better the older I get. I hope to never lose that feeling. I now have to go "hit the head" cause my stomach is already tore up:)
