Here is the short and sweet. My buddy invited me to a unit L county because I wanted some freezer meat. (Unit A here) He put me in a good woods stand in the AM but we left early because nothing was moving in the wind. He promised he had been covered up in deer and was a little worried I may not see anything on account of the weather.
We killed time in town for a little while and watched TV.
We gr back out by 2. Wasn't 45 minutes and a whole herd of does came through in some thick stuff & I didn't have a shot. Then a forkhorn came out in an opening and I passed (I rather shoot a mature doe).
I told him and he told me to meet him at his latter stand overlooking two huge wheat fields. I got over there and we put the stalk on this 10 point. He came over the rise at just under 200 yards and I found a rest at the edge of the woods. I put it on him with the .308. He ran and didn't look hit so I held off on shooting a doe because light was fading. He had piled at the other edge of the field. Made it about 80-100 yards after a good double king hit.
I'm very happy and dropped him off today at the taxidermist.
