Humphrey Co rut hunt tomorrow and Sunday. Last weekend I had lots of 1.5-2.5 year old buck chasing but no matures moving. Weather looks to be the same so I am expecting activity to be normal.

I am going to deploy one of the these three (BB, Tinks, or Code Blue) around my stand for a change. What do you all recommend from experience? I've never used either of the three outside of Tinks to drag behind my boots years ago.

Thoughts? Opinions? Anything?

Some people swear by any of the three, but I can honestly say I have never killed a deer over any of it....and have tried it all, at some point or another.

These estrous doe urine scents should be renamed to be "estrous doe urine that contains no vaginal secretions and has not passed over any gland" scentit is a waste of money. If your set on using a urine scent...use your own, it is basically the sameand alot cheaper.

Well, i swear by none of this stuff but sometimes it feels good to think you might have some sort of edge (even if only in your mind) be moderate with the use. My son went nuts one year with a can of buck bomb, a deer stood some thirty yards away in a thicket and stomped and snorted for forty five min. on the other hand we bought some doe in heat from Murfreesboro outdoors that they keep in a freezer in the back (fresh from a deer,so they say) and made a drag rag. I watched as my son's first deer (8 point) with his nose down like a beagle followed our exact route to his death.

Code blue standing estrous is amazing in my opinion but it's not magic. Buck bomb is also good. No scents are magic but they are better then nothing and it covers your scent.

Ive never used any of the stuff... probably never will. But I wonder how everyone can say none of it ever works when there are people that say they put it on a drag rag or whatever those things are and a deer comes to the stand on the exact line they came in on with nose to the ground. How can that be? Ive had a couple people tell me they have done that who are very "accomplished" big buck hunters and one in particular wouldnt tell a lie to save his life... I just wonder how that can be?

Maybe for some... i think some are a complete waste of money, but i believe in hunting the wind but cover scents and code blue or buck bomb does work I've seen it over and over again. Not every single time but you will not catch me out hunting in November without scents. I have not seen anything scientifically proving that they do not work. But i haven't searched it to much.

I never stated that it works all the time and i agree with you about pressure and other factors. I can see where your going with the cover scents, but it can't hurt i don't believe. By cover scents i mean scent Eliminators. But i do believe in scents but as i said before they aren't magic, and don't work all the time. They must be used right to be effective.

Had a young buck on a Ft Campbell Youth Hunt come in on a string after we used a drag line and some Code Blue. He would walk with his nose to the ground, stop, look right at us and continue with his nose to the ground.

Just this season I have used scents on 8 hunts and attracted deer to the scent on 4.Thats 50% just this season.Scents work often enough for me that I hardly ever hunt without them. And for the people that say they dont work,Dont worry about changing there mind because there mind is already made up.They use scents 1 or 2 times dump it on the ground and wonderd why it didnt work. It takes a little luck to get that scent to a deers nose but when it does I have noticed odds are very good that a deer will investigate.I have never seen doe in estrus scents spook a buck [That I could see].

I used to buy all three just to see which one they would come to. Never had luck with any of these although friends swear by buck bomb. Try to get some real farm raised doe urine. Its kinda a pain to deal with because you got to keep it in the fridge or it says 50 degrees and below. I can honestly say that I have brought bucks in on a string with this stuff. The first time I used it I was hunting on the ground and 2.5 year old came in hard and had him at 10 feet. I didnt want to kill him but made me real nervous. He stood there and looked at me and kept easing up. I waved my gun and hollered and he just stood there. But I have told my friends that when all the variables come together, I have had luck with younger bucks, but I will say this many many many of times when does wind it, it makes them mega nervous and mature does will roll out. In my opinion if you know where the does are, just hunt the does, but if you are not sure where they are or where they come from then try it. Be careful with it though the last thing you want to do right now is run your does off.

I wouldnt use any of the 3 in early season I learned my lesson the hard way there but i was trying something new. Once the rut is on I would use any of the 3 but I use it with the miss november decoy . I have had alot of success during rut and late season with it . Just my 2 cents it might work on one farm you hunt and not another

All of the tv guys are using that scent that comes in a stick. But they aren't as smart as they think. They are putting it on trees and stuff when it is obviously a deodorant u put on your pits:)!

This is the stuff you are referring too...I will have to say I kill my biggest to date with this stuff and the deer came in on a string.. http://www.conquestscents.com/store/hun ... /vs-1.html and my friend is a big fan of the EVER CALM also.....Buck Bombs I have used walking in and have deer run right up the trail I had just walked to me with it also...

I hunt with a guy that swears by the buck bomb because he claims it brings deer in, yet, he has never killed a big buck while utilizing it...so I don't call that effective. He did see a monster buck once but couldn't get a shot - guess that means buck bomb really works.

I started using that White Rain I mentioned earlier and have had the same success rate as him.

Who is right here?
