BSK? cloning oak trees.

I have heard of people cutting oak limbs and putting root hormone on them and with the proper care it grows into a healthy tree. So if you cut from a mature acorn producing oak will your new "clone" oak produce acorns the following year since it came from a mature tree?

No. The buds develop vegetatively instead of as reproductive tissue. There is more to it then sticking them in root one and sticking them in the ground. It really is not hard to do, but must be done correctly. For faster growth you might consider grafting or t-budding to get the plant going. If you would like more info on how to do it, send me a pm.

What Diehard Hunter said. No, they will not produce acorns for quite a few years.

However, there are species of oak that will produce acorns at young ages, such as gobbler oaks and sawtooth oaks.
