Now that I have a few gray hairs I have realized that playing the wind is the only true way to avoid detection from a deer's nose. However, I have a few buddies who have started smoking their clothes & equipment. They say it has worked very well for them and will continue this practice. Sure the deer smell the smoke, but they say it seems to have a calming effect on the deer. Obviously the smoke can mask other odors, but my question is..."Is there any science that would support the theory that smoke kills odor causing bacteria, including human odor? And do you think it would be an ideal scent control system"

Actually, there's the rub. Nothing can "mask" other odors to a deer or any other animal with that level of olfactory sense. They smell the "masking" scent and every scent underneath that masking scent, just like drug-sniffing dogs can smell drugs suspended inside a full gas tank.

but my question is..."Is there any science that would support the theory that smoke kills odor causing bacteria, including human odor?"

That theory does have some merit, as smoking meat has been used as an anti-bacterial preservation method for eons.
