Brush Blind?

I know old school, it was how they did it, but I thought I'd ask, anyone ever get a archery kill from a brush blind?

I'm asking because I set one up on a junction of 2 really well traveled trails I found on the new property I got access to. The owner had it logged in the spring and they left the tree tops laying around, so I hollowed 1 out and brushed it in real good. Longest shot would be 22 yards, closest would be 8 yards. I've never known anyone to use one and it's the first I ever tried to make. I just need to bring a chair to sit in and it should be good to go.

I'm not sure if I'll use it Sunday or Monday morning. It depends how my new job interview goes tomorrow.

Never killed one from a brush blind, but had my closest encounter with a deer from one. Set up on overgrown logging road and just piled brush up on two crossed fallen trees. Used a very low seat (4" high). Doe came in from upwind to within arms reach. Not interested in does, so let her walk away.

Only problem, you are eye level and any movement is a killer. Just have to bide your time.

I've killed a few deer from brush blinds! I had major back surgery a few years back and couldn't get up a tree so the ground was my friend. I even killed a yote from one! we have one that we spruce up every year with fresh limbs and something dies there every year. i always let them walk past me and stop them for my shot.

I really like using dove bucket with the swivel tops for spots like this makes turning for the shots easy good luck

I wish I could use one of those. Sounds like a great idea, due to my back I have to use something with a back on it. that's caused me trouble a couple times trying to get in position to shoot without getting caught!

I have a set up like that for bow hunting too. I picked an intersection where the main trail goes to a field they come into during the evening. Lots of honeysuckle and privet blocked any shot openings so i cut 3 shooting lanes no more than 10 yards from the trail. All the trimmings I piled around the area where I set my folding lawn chair. Have only hunted it once and no deer killed yet but I may try it again a couple times.

I've had shot opportunities from them, but I botched them or ran out of shooting light. It's about as exciting as it gets, though!

It doesn't look like the weather will be good Sunday or Monday, too windy for me I think. So I'm going to drive up after this breakfast interview and tighten it up with some burlap I have laying around. Just to darken it up. Also drop my old chair in it so it gets that woods scent to it.

I've hunted from a ground blind before but never a all natural brush blind. The trails are really nice, so hoping it works. I'll post a picture when I get back this afternoon, ya'll can let me know if you think it'll work.

One of my best spots is a cedar tree top that had fallen in the field edge and has a trail on each side around 10 feet away. Hollowed it out about 5 years ago and lined it with camo material on the inside. Killed my first deer with a recurve out of it and several more with a compound and rifle. My 6 year old boy, wife and me will all pile up in it with plenty of room.

my spot has cedars all around it too, we cut limbs of cedar to freshen it up every year. the smell also helps cover your sent. I agree with Crosshairy, this is an adrenalin rush when you can watch them blink at ground level!!!

Well I went out and beefed it up a bit with some burlap and that camo fabric from Walmart. The surprising part is my wife asked what I was going to do this afternoon and after I told her, she asked if she could come help. So I had her dragging deadfall branches across the field for me.

Here's what it ended up looking like, its not as roomy as I had hoped it would be when I got done.
