Anyone handled one yet? I have read that Browning may be phasing out the A-Bolt. Anyone heard this?

Don't know about phasing out the A-Bolt, but yes I have fingered an X-Bolt and they are nice!! You could too after a short drive towards Lost Creek area.... we have a Master Browning / Winchester / Kimber dealer in our backyard....

I don't know about the X bolt, but I don't like the Abolt. I don't like the 60 degree bolt throw and all the slop in the action when the bolt is open. The one I had shot ok though. Just personal preference.

I been thinking about this same thing for awhile now,phasing out the A-Bolts I mean,everytime Browning phase's out something the price goes up,might be a good investment to pick up a nice Medallion in a good caliber and put it back.
The X Bolt,feels good to me but I can't get comfortable with that new clip and the way it's mated to the stock. A-Bolts I wish I could have kept the ones I've sold off. You don't hear much in the way of questions from folks that shoot A-Bolts , kind of like the Remington model 760 or 7600's,you just don't hear about them or see them on the used racks,even though millions have been sold. I think from my humble experance with them they shoot,they are reliable and comfortable.
My wife shoots an A-Bolt a right handed one and she's a lefty,fuuny to watch but try as I have to get her into a lefty,she will not part with that rifle,we don't even talk about it anymore,she shoots,drops what she shooting at and I gut. LOL

I liked some things about the Xbolt and hated others. I liked the fact that you can unload the rifle with the safety on, which you cant with the Abolt. I liked the feel and finish of the Xbolt, but everything to do with the magazine is repulsive to me.

Just got off the phone with Browning. They will still keep making the A-Bolt but certian calibers and models will no longer be available and production on them will be cut back. They have no thoughts of phasing them out right now,just having limited models. And of course the one I like won't be made anymore.

I have a ABolt in 300wsm and I personally like my Remingtons much better. Nothing wrong with the Browning but I just like the feel of my 700s better.

Don't care for the smaller and re-styled action or the 4 hole scope base. NO Room to re-work them if you happen to bugger one up.
I have only looked at one out of several that didn't remind me of my ol'toy pop guns from child hood,in fact those were better quality than than the X-bolts.The only one that wasn't was a Medallion.
