Im interested in buying a new Browning auto rifle in 7mm08.I rarely hear feedback on autos and was looking for some pros and cons,and comments.I want it for just deer and coyotes and like the speep of auto for follow up.Comments?
 
The Browning line seems to be quite accurate. Good friend of mine had one in 308 that was a tack driver and another guy I know had one I think in 7 mag that was also very accurate.

There are no 7mm08 semi-auto's in the AR format that I know of but that could just be me. So you are kind of limited in your choices.

One thing I would say is follow-up shots are never something I count on. In all my years I have had only a single instance where an animal I shot needed a second shot. A 1st round miss at about 150 yards once turned into a 2nd shot at 45 but I would not have called that a follow up. Generally when I miss, the animal is gone.
 
I had a BAR in 300 wm. As long as you clean your rifle, you should have not issues with feeding. If its very cold, make sure the bolt is slammed all the way forward. One issue I had on one occasion was that I was hunting in very cold temperatures, around 15 degrees, and I release the bolt and it slammed forward but not all the way. I did not realize this until I went to pull the trigger on a deer. The gun just went click and no boom. It actually released the firing pin. I guess I should be greatful that it was not close enough to the primer to set it off. There is no telling what would have happened.
 
i have had 3 and still have 2 of them
there are 2 factors that i consider drawbacks to them
one is an extremely long trigger pull and the other is that they are heavy guns comparatively speaking
other than that i have no issues with them
when making a second shot especially on multiple coyotes, that long trigger pull has a tendency to cause me to jerk the trigger on a fast shot

The new line of BAR's out are very lightweight. I was shocked. My dad has an older (around late 90's model) and that thing is heavy as crap. I did buy an older 30-06 BAR and it was fairly light. I sold it a few weeks back to pay closing cost on my property and hope to replace it some day.
