One of my favorite bucks broke his velvet this week. i wondered if any of you guys have dealt with this and wonder if the antler will harden this year or break off...if it stays it will be a cool rack

I had one like that last year. A big 5 year old I had been waiting to hunt. he broke his beam off flush with his G3 and it hung down just like that until he shed his velvet then it came off as well.

You never know but this late into antler growth it may drop off. If it doesn't he'll be easy to distinguish. If you don't get him this year it'll be back to normal again next year.

Upon further investigation (I pulled cards to look at the high res 12mp pics) last weekend. I'm pretty sure that's a fresh bullet hole in his right ear. So I am guessing he was shot at in one of our bean fields and and screed his rack up as he ran for his life. Zoom in on the right ear....makes me sick, but he still staying on our place. Hoping for a crack at him in a few weeks as he is one of older mature bucks
