Probably about 25 shots into cardboard target.
 
I just dont think there is a mechanical broadhead out there designed to with stand target practice. I have shot GR, swackers, meatseakers, naps, rages i have yet to find one that would go into a broadhead target 15 to 20 times without damage most of the time breaking off blades as yours did
 
I've shot my Hybrid several dozen times into foam no issues. I'm wondering if Grim Reaper got a bad batch of blades.
 
I'm not trying to give them a bad review or anything. Just a little show and tell.

I made a target out of a cardboard box stuffed with 2 layers of thin carpet (like you see in a school), 2 layers of some soft foam (found at work), and 2 layers of cardboard blocks. The blocks are about 3" thick and about 8" long.

I know that it would be unreasonable to think that I could shoot 25 deer with the same broadhead. So I am not surprised that this head finally gave out.

Of course the blade broke eventually. This head should be no issue for hunting.

I think this thin carpet simulates a deer's hide pretty well because it's rubber on the backside. I could probably use only 1 layer but I wanted to make sure it was going to stop my arrows.

I bet if it was just cardboard you would say "of course it broke, you're shooting cardboard"

Like I said, I'm not trying to give it a bad review. I'll gladly take a "real" broadhead target if you want to send me one. I'll PM you my address for shipping information. ;)
 
Nah Cozy I'll just wait till you send one through a deer.

Now if the blade breaks then there's a problem.

Sorry Cozy wasn't trying to be rude but there have been some lengthy broadhead tests over on Archery Talk that have resulted in some of the nastiest mudslinging I've ever seen. Guys start shooting broadheads through test mediums that in NO WAY simulate a live animal. The broadheads get bent or out of shape and the tester claims "the broadhead failed".
 
I don't understand why you are shooting a perfectly good mechanical into a target. They make practice tips for that. :)

Practice tips aren't available for the Hybrid.
 
Let me add I have shot mine several dozen times into Rinehart foam with no issues. One thing you WILL have to replace every 10-15 shots or so is the retention spring. After several shots it loses its tension and the blades kinda flop loose and will likely open in flight. You can contact Grim Reaper and get some for cheap or possibly free.
 
What fletching are you shooting on your arrows? I had the NAP Quikspins and I shot a mechanical head into my foam target and it sheared a blade off after the 2nd shot. (Old Rocky Mountain Assassin head). Not Grim R. I've since quit shooting the Quikspins. Had trouble getting any broadhead to hit same point of impact as field point .
 
They were about 8" left and 6" high from field points. Shot them a little to get the elevation corrected. All my Allen wrenches I have would not go into the bolt for left/right adjustment on my rest(it's a Hoyt, needed a shallow Allen wrench). Took one to work, had it grinded down then came home and shot it until I corrected the left/right. I didn't count how many times I shot, but would guess it was about 25 or less.
 
30 yds. Matt at E. Wave set it up when i got him to restring it a month or 2 ago. I just barely had to move the rest down and even less to the right and it fixed it. Since I have been shooting only 1 broadhead, I have a harder time seeing a pattern of where I am off. Even when I do see it, I start doubting it and think it's my form which I believe is part of it. It's a new bow to me and just when I think I have everything in check, I start getting flyers again. I am pretty sure it's good to go now. I'll be shooting quite a bit more in the coming weeks to make sure I'm good.
 
Those quickspin vanes have to be rough on blades. Imagine spinning an arrow 600 rpm, then slamming the head into a piece of carpet. That's a lot of side load on those things.
 
IMO if you shot the head 20 or so times into cardboard and carpet before the blade broke, that shows a tough blade.
