broadheads tuning 101

That's what I need right now lol got the gf shooting muzzy mx3 pulling 40 lbs and fields tips are dialed in but bh is hitting high and left so how do I fix this so they both hit same spot. Leave for ohio next Thursday so I gotta get it quick

Tons of easily accessible info. Before I made any adjustments I would shoot through paper. I made this mistake last year and TNDeerGuy worked with me to discover the hump in my grip contacting the palm of my hand was causing me to torque the bow. Took the grip off and got it to shoot through paper, but had to redo everything because I had already been trying to tune it out with the rest.

The easiest explanation of broadhead tuning there is . But there is alot of information to find out about the set up first . What bow , arrows , rest, and draw length ?

Just trying to get a base . Because if she is shooting a drop away rest and you change the rest position , most likely the rest will have to be re timed . Different bows require different tuning approaches . So answer these and I'm sure we can get ya going to right direction .

Sounds like your fletching is hitting somewhere, what kind of rest do you have, and with muzzy's i always used the four blades, never had a problem

Also it won't fix the problem . If the broadheads aren't hitting with field points there is a tuning problem or a form problem , or both .

Muzzy's are just as good as slick tricks, ive shot both. Never had any problem with any of them. But i also shot alluminum arrows, i think sometimes carbon arrows are to skinny and that creates a problem with fixed blade heads. In my expeirence, i had more problems with carbon arrows

The faster the bow shoots , the more finicky the fixed blade broadheads are to shoot . I remember shooting aluminums at 220 ish FPS and fixed blades flew great with minimal tuning . Now I'm closer to 290 and it takes alot of fine tuning to get them to shoot well . And minor form problems are amplified greatly at that speed .

I agree with your statement that Aluminums can shoot fixed blades better but because of the weight and thus reducing the speed . The slower the bow shoots the less amount the arrow is steered by the blades .

Don't just sight it in for the broad heads, Like someone mentioned earlier THE BOW IS OUT OF TUNE OR IS BEING TORQUED OR BOTH.

First tune your bow and get it punching bullet holes with a bare arrow. Then you move on to tuning your arrows until they will spin perfectly, with no wobble where the base of the broadhead meets the arrow shaft. When all is in tune field tips and fixed broadheads will shoot the same.
