Ok, so a couple months ago I was getting my bow tuned up real good. I had it shooting bareshafts with my field tips. Then I dropped a paint can down my stairs and it hit directly on my rest. I got it straightened back out with my field tips then started shooting some broadheads this weekend. To my surprise my BH's were hitting dead on at 20 and 30. When I got to 40 though they were hitting low and left. I made very small adjustments to my rest and they started hitting high and right so I moved the rest back a little and got them hitting pretty close at 40. I don't like close though, I want them to both hit the same POI.

My question is: How can my 20 and 30 BH shots be dead on but 40 is off? I can understand 20 as the vanes may not have time to correct the flight yet. Would it have something to do with the 3rd axis?

Also, every now and then the BH arrow (always shoot the same one) hits the target at a different angle than my field point. Most of the time it hits dead straight though.
 
My guess would be it is not the bow. Any slight torque will be magnified with broadheads at linger distances.
 
This is hard without seeing the bow because so many things could be going on. First, it is not a 3rd axis problem—that will have no affect on what you're describing. I do think that something is being introduced into the shot—either human error or a mechanical issue, I'm betting the latter. I would shoot the broadhead on another arrow to eliminate something being wrong with the current arrow. It could be you inducing random torque, although I wouldn't bet on it. I would take a real close look at the rest. If my memory serves me correctly you're using a dropaway. Take some of your wife's lipstick she doesn't use, doesn't like, or just take the butt-chewing and be done with and grab the first one you come to and apply the lipstick to the prongs at the midpoint and up of the rest. After each shot, carefully check the shaft and the fletchings for marks from the lipstick. It honestly sounds like bounceback to me.
