Have an old British .303. Forearm has been trimmed. Gun has a lot of sentimental value. Would love to deer hunt with it some this year, but my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. How hard to mount a decent scope? How much would cost run?

Not tapped. I guess I should clarify. Should I get it tapped or are those special .303 mounts a good option.

I have no idea what gun you have. I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to the 303. I know my brother used one to kill his first deer around 20 years ago. That's all the experience I have with one. Odds are there is a mount for it. Some of the old military guns had mounts that went on the side of the action instead of on top. Some are off center. But as many as were sporterized there should be something out there

The 303s are notorious for the head space problems. It would be advisable to have a gunsmith check it before putting any money in it
