]has there been a change in TWRA rules that a deer cape has to be TANNED now in order to legally bring it into the state ...I thought as long as the deer was caped and frozen and the skull plate boiled clean we were good? There are many methods taxidermists use to preserve or TAN deer capes .. salting, pickling,, dry peserve and many more ..are all these methods considered TANNED ? Or can capes still be brought back unprocessed or green on ice or frozen ?

Sorry, but I don't know. I'm waiting on some info from TWRA on that right now. There is a difference in what the website and the hunting guide says on the hides.

You may want to just go ahead and contact the TWRA Law Enf. Div. at 615-781-6580.
