?Bringing a neglected gun back to life?

I have recently stumbled up on my dads old hunting rifle. He hasn't hunted in 3-4 years so I asked him if I could take it and fix it up since it hasn't even been cleaned since the last time it was used. I plan on re-finishing the stock and fore-end myself. The trigger assembly and all the internal parts seem to be in really good shape, but the barrel and reciever have some surface rust. The blue has actually worn completely off the end of the barrel. I'd like some opinions on rebluing the metal sufaces or having them resurfaced with that bake on finish stuff. I've heard that the bake on finish has a really good high gloss finish to it. Almost as pretty as bluing at half the cost. It is a Remington Sportsman 74 Auto 30-06. I think they only made this particular model in the mid 80's so I'd like to fix it up so it doesn't get too far gone.

Put that old thing back in the closet and get your gun back out. Don't you like that M87ELR, I love shooting mine......Tango down!!!
