Are these a thing of the past now? I remember when they got big everyone bought one. Every bit of bread that I ever ate from one was great! but I don't know anyone who kept baking it or still does.

Been thinking about getting one. But I'm wondering if it will just end up under the cabinet beside the foreman grill and the perfect hamburgar maker
 
Good bread with a little butter on it is a meal by itself as far as I'm concerned. and seemed like those things made excellent bread
 
I use mine mostly during the fall and winter months when I am making different soups and stews, nothin' beats fresh crusty bread and butter with homemade soup.

My sous chef has two and she makes sourdough bread that will make you butt you head into the wall. I am babysitting her starter while she is in Florida playing in the sun. I think her starter is something like 20 years old.

I can live on good bread and fresh butter. My mother use to churn our butter and make butter and buttermilk. Hot fresh bread and a glass of buttermilk and a smile from Mom. I think I'm going to cry now. Kitchens don't smell like that anymore.

Bowriter, I've never had fresh churned butter. You would think living in the Dairy State I would have but I haven't. You'd also might think that they'd make an electric butter churner. They have yogurt makers for crying out loud - why not a butter maker?
