Do you suppose plumber's tape would work?

I would recommend the breech plug grease or a good quality high temp. never seize(copper base).

I have used the same tube of TC grease on the last three inlines I have owned and never had a single problem removing a plug yet.

Better than grease.
I wrap my vent liner on my flintlock with it and the breech plug on that loaner in-line...wouldn't use anything else.

It's NOT the same.

The plumbers tape is thiner than the MZ tape and the MZ tape has a higher temp rating.

Plumbers tape and the TC tape are the same product - just different containers.

One, however, is marketed to people that are willing to pay a premium for the advertising hype.

I use high temp never seize from the auto parts store, but it is a little messier than the tape.

The plumbers tape works well also.

Yep, not the same. I send CVA a email 3-4 years ago asking the question and they told me it wasn't the same.

Not sure but I wonder if Plumbers tape would handle the heat ??Epecially at the range. I always use anti seize compound some times called breech plug lube.If you've never had to get one out thats seized up. I hope you never have . I would reccomend always useing breech plug anti seize lube. It might save you alot of heart ache some day.

I was once told that some plumbers tape gives off a poison gas if burnt. I would rather use a good hi temp never seize or use the breech plug grease.

I've been using tape for years. In my opinion it greatly aids in stopping blowback around the threads. I mainly use the pink but some of my guns require the thinner white.

i have never heard of using plumbers tape, i would be concerned with the high temp the plug has against it, like melting the tape ....i use the tc breech plug grease and never had any problems......

O'reilly auto parts has the permatex copper anti-seize lube.

The gentleman who built my flintlock was the one who clued me in on it a few years ago. He's used it for many years around the flash hole liner on his flintlocks for both hunting and his monthly matches.

use antiseize and forget it.works on harley axles and breechplugs and lawnmower rear wheels-axles.
