Somebody explain: you are playing a game against a team with a kicker that has NEVER kicked in a college game. You score a touchdown in the second half to go up by 12. I don't know why Butch coaches so scared. He's got one of the most talented teams in the country. his guys need to know he has the confidence in them to go out there and make the plays. The vols have one the best groups of receivers in college football and they are mainly decoys. I just don't get it.

Well, on paper. You sure hear how great all these guys are. We will probably never know unless the coach decides to start using them.
If the play calling doesn't change for the vols they may end up in a fight with vandy at the end of the year to be bowl eligible. Right now, I don't think the vols would be able to dominate Vanderbilt, and that's sad. Jmo

I agree, as do most of the "experts". He is playing scared and playing not to lose. I tortured myself last night and listened to sports talk for a few hours after game. Fuad reveiz, Jimmy hyams, John Wilkerson all of them had same comments. They are just as disgusted, I haven't heard them come down on coaches that hard ever, usually they take up for them but not last night. Every column I've read had same thoughts questioning butch's abilities. His family will have a rough week, it won't affect him because he won't be out in public much during football season busy working 18 hours a day and sleeping in office, at least I hope he is trying to fix this.....problem is I think he is to stubborn to see he is wrong and change his philosophy.
