I was told that I should use bore butter in my muzzle loader after cleaning it up for the season. Anyone else ever use it and if so, where do you buy it at?

Thanks for the input

I only have used bore butter as a lube. For storage any good gun oil will do.

I have used it for about three years. Works well. No issues.

Where do you find it at? I asked the gun gurus at Academy and they looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about it.

I would never trust bore butter for long term storage, its a terrible product.

You hear, don't use petro! they'll make tar in that thar bore! Not true. Like any lube, it must first be cleaned out of the bore prior to loading. Use a good quality gun oil inside of the bore. I like Barricade for long term storage.

I have used bore butter for 20 years. The first gun i used it on looks like it has never been fired. Looks brand new 20 years later. Much cleaner than oils. I also clean my guns with water. Works great.

I use bore butter when putting my ML up for the year. Have used nothing else for around 12 years and the bore looks like a mirror. Since it's so thick it would be easy to cake it up too thick and cause problems with your powder the next time you load. That shouldn't be a problem if you run a patch through the bore after coating with Bore Butter to wipe away the excess.

it was touted as bullet lube and end of season protector, always worked well for me esp for tight fitting bullets, but I would say plenty of more modern products available that work as well to worry with it, its a bit greasy too

I've used bore butter for the last 18 years. It is the only thing I use for cleaning and lube with exception to breach plug anti seize. I have had 0 issues and shoot very tight groups, below is 2, 5 shot groups at 100yrds.
