BORE BUTTER?

IS THIS STUFF WORTH USING . HAVE A KNIGHT DISC ELITE AND USED IT FOR THE FIRST THREE YEARS, AND QUIT USING. ANY PROS AND CONS ON THIS STUFF.?

I've used it for years. I don't care if it seasons the bore or not. It still works great to store your muzzleloader after you have cleaned it. I use TC's number 13 cleaner too.

It doesn't do anything for your barrel. It will cause a loss in velocity and accuracy due to less pressure build up if you use it to aid in seating the sabot and bullet. Very inconsistant velocities with bore butter.

Agree unless one is talking Patched Round Balls or Conicals,makes for good breech plug lube with Pyrodex.

I use it on all my guns. Not just MLs. Have not had any rust prolbems at all.

I do use it, only after season when it goes into hibernation. When the beast gets awakened it gets cleaned out.

Don't use at all on the inlines. Do use it as a patch lube and cast bullet lube for my traditional ML's. I did find another use for some as a case lube the other night while resizing cartridges. The smell is a nice bonus.

I only use it to coat the threads on my breech plug.

I started using it a few years ago and can say nothing but great things about bore butter. (Keep in mind that I use a sidelock) with My bore is much cleaner than before, and stays that way for a few extra shots. I used to see big changes in point of impact during the first 3-5 shots, now accuracy lasts from 7-10 shots. For some reason I don't have near as many hangfires or delays. My accuracy has improved from around 3 inches at 100 to around 1.5 inches. Also the Sabots load more smoothly. I couldn't be happier with the stuff as you can tell. I haven't used soap in my barrel in over 5 years and the bore looks like new. I also rub it on the wood stock. Plus it has a distinct aroma that really gets my heart going for huntin. Like Hoppe's #9.

I';ve used it since it came out in my Black Powder and pyrodex rifles for both cleaning and for lubing my round ball patches. Worked great.

Then a couple years ago, when I went to an in-line and 777, BSK reported that he and his brother started having problems with 777 in their rifles, and traced it to Bore Butter. About the same time TC came out with "TC 17" or something like that; does the same things as Bore Butter, but formulated for 777.

If you use 777, I recommend the TC-17 instead.

MTW, I never thought of using it on the breechplug threads. The anti-seize grease is the messiest part of cleaning a ML, so I think I'll try my old Bore Butter on that.

Just make sure you clean it out well before shooting. About 5 years ago I sold a perfectly good Muzzeloader because it started spraying rounds all over the place. Turns out I didn't get the bore butter out well enough and it played with the accuracy. Just use it on breachplug now.
