They are pretty rare around my part of the country so this rare encounter was special to us! We were coon hunting our dogs and the dogs had treed. We were walking into our dogs when my son spotted this cat just setting up in a tree. He wasn't camera shy and let us take 9 pics and he never jumped! He actually seemed curious about us...pretty neat deal! We admired him for a while and then continued on to the dogs....

The dogs did not tree it but they came pretty close to where he was at running that coon they treed. Them running the coon might of put him up......

Oh cmon now tar be honest they put him up there!! Ha just kidding, very cool though. we floated the collins river a few years back and came across this one, I have video of it on my youtube page, wish I had my HD camera with me, wouodve been nice to get a pic as clear as yours. again, very cool!

that cool and a great pic, it look young :tu:

I see about 1 a year around here, the last year I coonhunted was the year a lot of hunters was treeing bears around here. Talk about nerve racking, loose your dog and find a big bear track while looking for your dog.

So you violate the law because you could make a little extra money. Bobcats are legal in Tn daylight hours only.

honestly I didn't know they was a regulation on bobcats like that :pop: ......most of the time a bobcat will jump out of a tree before ya get there :)

They are a beautiful animal.
They are rare around here as well and it's a treat to see one. I have no problem if someone kills one legally but I always give them a pass. Glad you feel the same......

Personally I will not kill one around here even if they do start a season. It took a very long time for their populations to recover here. We simply don't have the habitat to support large populations of them.
