All about everyone having there right to fish in whatever they want to but dang I had to go to two different boat ramps because kayakers we're hoging the the ramp. Gets old dealing with people that have no common sense or respect.

And, to add to that crap, unless they have registered due to running a trolling motor somehow, the kayakers don't pay a penny into the Boating Fund that constructs those boat ramps. Totally freeloaders for the boating side.
Some may be fishermen that buy a license, but that money doesn't go into boat ramp construction.

It is past time for them to do so. But, the paddle sports industry employs some very good folks that lobby very hard against it.
So, thank your legislators next time you can't use the ramp you paid for due to the kayakers clogging it up.

They definitely don't get in any hurry when loading or unloading. That's why I only go places where there's not even a ramp. The whole point of a fishing kayak is to fish places a boat can't go. IMO anyway.

Why is a ramp even needed to launch a kayak?
Maybe the regs could be tweaked just a bit to where only registered vessels may use a public ramp to launch any boat, canoe, or kayak?

dont have a whole lot around here but people do think they can park a lawn chair and fish off them.
In the fishing kayak world, the average base weight for them is around 100 lbs empty. They are tricking them out with sonar, lights, crates that hold 6+ rods, gear, possibly trolling motors, etc. Basically they took something that was supposed to enable them quick and simple access to water, where they could carry it to the water...and made it to where a boat ramp was required because of how heavy it is. A lot of these people are using jet ski trailers to haul and launch them from. If you're going to put that much into it...just get a boat. That's what I say. I carry a single little clear tackle box, pliers, and 1 rod. Maybe a little lunch cooler and that's it. My kayak has a wheel in the keel where I can roll it anywhere I need to instead of dragging it. If I'm fishing places with so much crap that I need a ramp...I'm gonna use my boat. I know not all kayaks now are fishing though...lots of recreational ones doing the same problem now. They are just lazy and or looking for a fight.
I try to be the better person and avoid confrontation because when I get mad someone is going to have a bad day. Hope they can do something about this but not holding my breath.
