Took the 7wt and a few cicadas to go after bass on Percy Priest this afternoon. After several casts with no hits, I tied on a #12 Wooley Bugger to the back of the cicada. Within an hour I ended up with a decent mess of bluegill.

Cool deal. Here in the Harpeth River, the gills hit the cicadas every time I throw one in the water, but they just like to bite the rear off, suck out the juice, and spit the rest out. I have a lot of trouble actually hooking them. Been fishing with my minnows and small bluegills to catch the cats and gar.

Boy doc, I hope that bass is a KY :)

Sure is a KY...Rough toothy patch on the tongue, jawline didn't go past the eye, one long continuous dorsal. I usually try to keep those as Priest has a healthy population of KYs. Only caught one this time.

The 2 small largemouths that I hooked were released unharmed. Thanks for keeping me in check ;)
