Blood trail? Help please

I shot a doe at aedc this evening.I shot thought I missed because the deer threw its tail up and trotted off.I walk to were the deer was standing and there is my arrow sticking up in the ground.There is tiny white hair by the arrow and a few specks of blood.There is only a few drops on the arrow fletching.Looks to me like I just glanced the deer.I pick up the trail and about 75 yards I find a pool of blood and at trail of blood to the next pool.I find three big pools of blood then it gets dark.I decided to pull off the trail and wait till morning.Anyone got any idea were I hit this deer?If it was a muscles wound wouldnt I had found blood right at the start???
 
No sometimes it takes a little bit for a deer to start bleeding. I shot a deer a couple years ago that went in the ribs and exit was in the shoulder pass thru and the deer didnt bleed much at all just pen drops. If you were in a tree stand the white hair could be from the exit wound. The arrow didnt smell like a gut shot does it? If you are finding big pools of blood the deer will die. How long did you wait before you started tracking.
 
I wish you would have hollered at me i would have tried to help but like i said i couldnt track a neon sign but i got a deer cart lol
 
I thought you went home! I didnt want to bother you. The blood was dark red. The kind you excpect to find a dead deer any minute! I called region two office and they gave me the goahead to track in the morning.

I was on the ground.I waited fifteen minutes to retrieve my arrow and fifteen more before I started tracking.
 
I have shot 2 deer in the neck (due to gun being off and not knowing) hardly any blood trail and it was very sporadic. But i'd lose it and keep walking in the direction the trail was headed and come upon huge blood pools where the deer had stopped or laid down and i jumped it up again not knowing. One deer i lost because the trail ended in a field, and the other i got lucky and found still very much alive in a thicket.
 
My guess is that you hit her high and it took a while for the blood to pool to the point it would spill out the exit wound. Good luck. Hope you find her. These kinda things make for a long, restless night. :crazy:
 
As rule of thumb a hour wait is good to wait unless you gut shoot one then wait even longer but I have started tracking to soon before and you push the deer farther. Where you found last blood look for fresh tracks kicked up leaves to follow .

Considering this and the white hair you probably just nicked the underside. I've done this before and had a decent blood trail and several pools but soon the trail stopped.
 
Its not normal for an arrow not to have blood on it but anythang can happen. if you hit one far back it wont have much blood on it. If you are finding puddles of blood you got a good chance of finding the deer.
 
Sorry guys I have been really busy with work gotta make hay when the sun shines :D I didnt find the deer.We tracked the deer a few hundred yards and the blood dried up.I guess I knicked her.Thanks guys for all your help!
